Fashion Etc. Club was started a year ago by four girls, Tayea Brooker, Brittnay Ramirez, Nicole Azevedo, and Lizbeth Ochoa.

They were all part of an internship at Nordstrom called B.P. Fashion Board and wanted to bring what they learned to school so that fashion lovers would have a chance to learn more about the industry of fashion.

“Miss Geiger always has a positive attitude and loves helping…,” Nicole Azevedo (12) said.

Nicole Azevedo is the president along with Lizbeth Ochoa the vice president. At Fashion Etc., they talk about the latest trends, inspiring designers, style icons, fashion sources and jobs within the industry. They talk to guest speakers from the industry, plan fun events like Gahr Fashion Week and have fun styling sessions.

“Some students think they have to be ‘fashionable’ in order to come to our meetings. Please know that is not true!” Kelsey Sousa (12) said.

They love seeing everyones’ different styles.

“One thing we can promise you is that you will never have a dull moment in Fashion Etc.,” Azevedo (12) said.

First came Toms, then came sparkly Toms and now Toms with socks? Even Blake Mycoskie, the founder of Toms, wears socks with his Toms! After speaking with students around campus many agreed that socks with Toms are trendy.

“I think its nasty to wear shoes without socks,” Kyra Writsman(11) said.

Along with socks with Toms, colored skinny jeans might be coming back.

Seen worn by Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian and Rihanna, colored skinny jeans seem to be making a come back and are now being sold in stores such as Forever 21 and Sears.

“I believe colored skinny jeans never really left. I used to wear them all the time three years ago. When they faded out I just threw them in my closet and never really thought of them again. Now that they are making the jeans skinnier I might need to go buy a new pair of bright skinnies,” Samia Adel (11) said.

Big hats, small hats, funky hats, and rainy day hats. Although a European style for centuries, hats are making their way across the pond fast. After the royal wedding of Prince Henry and his wife Kate, European traditions hit the U.S. quickly. Now being sold in Macy’s, Forever 21, JC Penny, and even Kohl’s, big European hats are in!

“I have always been a fan of hats, even if they are plain and goofy. It seems that the bigger the hat the fancier, so I will definitely be hitting Macy’s up to get my big European sunblocker,” Amy Yoo (9) said.

Also throughout the halls of Gahr many bands are being represented including Led Zepplin, Muse, The Beatles and The Ramones.

Whether it is Toms with socks, colored skinnies, big European hats, or band shirts, I am sure many will be hitting the mall this month. Be fun and be fancy.
