Help is always around the corner for students with problems. Working behind the scenes, Kristin Guerrero has been at Gahr as the school psychologist since 2004.

“One of the big things I do in my job [is] student’s behavioral and academic issues. I do a lot of problem solving.” Guerrero said.

Guerrero talks to students if they are any having difficulties in school. There are also times when students are sent to see her if they have deep, emotional problems. Usually, the counselor will request a student to see Guerrero if they feel that a student is having trouble academically or have personal issues that need to be discussed.

When asked how long she had been a psychologist, Guerrero paused, thinking hard.

“I believe [since] 1996. It’s like 13 to 14 years,” Guerrero laughed pleasantly.

Guerrero has enjoyed her job for all of the years she has been in her profession. She prefers to work with adolescents, especially high school students, as opposed to younger children. However, unlike most of Gahr’s staff, she is not stationed solely on campus.

“I’m not here everyday. I do things at the district [and] go and support programs on the other days of the week, ” Guerrero said.

Despite her not being available every day at school, students can set up appointments with her through their counselor.
