Tell me, why do students come to school knowing that they are sick? Isn’t it the most annoying thing to have your fellow classmates sneezing, coughing and sniffing while you are trying to learn?

I don’t know about you, but I find it uncomfortable to be in class with a person who is sick sits right next to you and they are constantly coughing and sneezing during class.

The health of students is important because if they are sick, they have to miss school and will get behind in class; however, if you are sick, it is best to stay home for you health and the for the sake of everyone else’s health. It is not fair that other students get sick, stay at home, and miss out on their schoolwork because someone who was already sick wouldn’t stay at home. In a way it is kind of selfish.

If you are worried about missing your schoolwork, you can always have a friend stop by and give you the homework, have your parent come to the school and get your homework or e-mail your teachers.

As it may be true that some students may not have a choice, but to come to school, they should still take the necessary precautions to not get others sick. When students come to school they should be healthy and ready to learn without the distraction of being sick.

If you do happen to come to school when you are sick, please remember to always sneeze or cough in your elbow, not your hands. If you fail to do so and sneeze or cough in your hands, either disinfect your hands with hand sanitizer or go to the bathroom and wash your hands thoroughly with soap.

Also, it is a good idea to carry your own tissue to avoid constantly getting up in the class to get some. In addition, if you can, please take non-drowsy medication before you leave the house every morning.

But overall, it would be a good idea to stay home until you are well again to avoid getting other students and teachers sick as well. So do us all a favor and…STAY HOME!

Do you stay home when you are sick?
