Logan Paul is an American YouTuber who has over 22 million subscribers and has made strides in other avenues such as acting and in music. Logan Paul has two boxing matches under his belt, fighting against fellow YouTuber KSI, in 2018 and 2019. His first match with KSI ended as a majority draw, which led to a rematch where he lost to KSI via a split decision. In comparison, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has a boxing record of 50-0, including 27 knockouts. Mayweather is a six-time recipient for the Espy of Best Fighter of the Year, the BWAA Fighter of the Year three times, and named Fighter of the Decade by the Boxing Writers Association of America. Mayweather is regarded as one of the best defensive boxers and the most accurate punchers, having the highest plus-minus ratio ever recorded.

The lack of experience from Paul, in comparison to Mayweather, has sparked controversy on why the exhibition match is even occurring. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President, Dana White, pitched in his thoughts on the fight, questioning how Paul will stand a chance against Mayweather. “Didn't that kid get beat up by the...video game kid from England and now he’s going to fight Floyd Weather?” White remarked.

ESPN Analyst Max Kellerman believes it is all for a quick and easy cash grab for Mayweather. “Floyd was like, well actually from the fighter's point of view, my best interest is to take minimal risk, maximum award, not get hit, get out, with all my money and all my marbles… then what he realized is, wait a minute? Why fight a guy who has trained his whole life to box you for 30 million, when you can fight a guy who hasn’t trained his whole life boxing for 100 million?” Kellerman noted.

Mayweather’s last professional fight was against UFC champion Conor McGregor in 2018, where he received a guaranteed disclosed paycheck of 100 million dollars, and total, earned 280 million dollars from the fight. On February 20, 2021, fans and boxing enthusiasts will find out if the Mayweather narrative will prevail once again or Logan Paul will go against the odds and win against the former boxing champion.
