Maintaining Motivation

  • February 17,2021

Staying motivated halfway through the school year is hard enough without being stuck at home amidst a pandemic. To help get me through finals and into the second semester I’ve had two quotes running through my head. If you need an extra push because you’re lacking some motivation, feel free to steal one (or both) of them.

“The cost of procrastination is the life you could have lived.” Putting off long and difficult assignments is one of my many talents but it, unfortunately, has caused me much stress the days before deadlines. When I catch myself thinking about procrastinating, this quote pops into my head and reminds me not to delay work that can be done now, especially because I’ll end up wondering about all the “what-ifs” that could have happened if I had worked harder.

“Don’t stay comfortable for too long. Someone who has the same dreams as you is out there working while you lay in bed on your phone.” When I find myself getting lost in TV shows and social media, I think of this quote to remind myself to work harder because I’m not the only student trying to get into college to pursue the same career.
