It is that time of the year again. Football fans are getting ready for the most exhilarating time of the season: College Football Playoffs (CFP) and the Super Bowl. The most interesting and surprising game of the playoffs was the Ohio State Buckeyes vs. the Clemson Tigers game. Many Tiger fans thought that the Clemson Tigers would win this game, but the Ohio State Buckeyes pulled off the upset and moved onto the CFP Championship.

This was considered one of the bigger upsets this year in the CFP because the Clemson Tigers were led by Trevor Lawrence, a projected number 1 pick in the NFL draft. Trevor Lawrence was considered as one of the best QBs in college football this year. However, the Tigers were met with strong opposition that game. Trevor Lawrence had 400 yards that game, but it was not enough to beat the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes showed strong team effort, and this effort was led by Justin Fields, the QB of the Buckeyes, who led the team to victory with 385 yards.

This game was not just a regular playoff game. The Ohio State Buckeyes proved that they had the talent and everything to be near the top rankings. Dabo Swinney, the head coach of the Clemson Tigers, ranked Ohio State 11th overall. With this game, the Ohio State Buckeyes proved Coach Swinney wrong and proved that they were the number 3 ranked team in the nation.

Ohio’s championship opponent, Alabama, also had a fantastic run this year. Alabama came off a big win against Notre Dame, the number 4 overall team. This matchup disappointed and scared some Notre Dame fans as Notre Dame went up against the number 1 team in the conference. In a video that was posted on ESPN's College Football Twitter, a woman reacted to the initial matchup between Alabama and Notre Dame.  As the CFP Selection Committee announced the matchups for the playoffs, a woman was devastated that they had to play Alabama. She stated in disappointment, “No...no, no, no God no...”.

The Alabama Crimson Tide beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 31-14 to move onto the CFP championships. In the championship game, the Alabama Crimson Tide beat the Ohio State Buckeyes 52-24. This game was expected to be very competitive, but Alabama came out of the gates ready for action and blew out the Buckeyes. Both teams had players who put up impressive stats. Justin Fields, the QB of the Buckeyes, had 194 yards from passing and rushing. Mac Jones, the QB of Alabama, put up an astounding total of 464 yards and was involved with five touchdowns.

Also, DeVonta Smith, the WR of Alabama, had 215 yards just in the first half. He had an outstanding performance, which in the end adds to why he won the Heisman Trophy this year. This impressive feature allowed DeVonta Smith to gain much respect not only from other college players but also from famous athletes such as LeBron James and Davante Adams. With the College Football Playoffs coming to an end, football fans eagerly wait for the Super Bowl.
